Morbid, but interesting

I was looking at the news this morning, and there’s a site now called “mydeathspace.com”. It’s basically a giant obituary column, with links to the deceased myspace page. On the one hand, I thought this was a bit morbid, but I picked out one of the deceased and took a look at his myspace page. It was touching really - lots of posts from people just saying they were thinking of him, and miss him.

I guess some people get obsessive about this sort of thing (dieing, and death, and learning about dead strangers). It’s not something that I think I’ll ever look at again, but it was worth looking at once. Thankfully, I don’t have a myspace page, so I won’t have to worry about strangers discussing the details of my death one day.

That’s a BIG pig!

Our priest brought our son an article from the newspaper about this 11 year old kid that shot a 1000+ pound wild boar in Alabama, with a frickin’ pistol. Granted, it was a .50 cal pistol, but I’m not sure I’d want to get close enough to a monster like to shoot it with a hand gun.

Check out the details (and a picture)

1000 Days At Sea

I read an interesting article about this couple that have headed out to sea on a 70-some-odd-foot schooner. Their goal is to remain at sea without ever stepping on land or taking on fresh supplies for 1000 days. Their adventure started just a couple of days ago. It sounded like an interesting thing to check in on once and a while, so I’ve added a link to it under “Stuff to read”.
