Hello. I just got here doing a search for the 'purl stitch', I'm trying to learn how to do it. :-) I've always had problems with teeth so I know some of the pain...

Just a short comment on something you said in this post: "Amongst the Catholics (maybe others?) a common expression when suffering is “offer it up”. Give your suffering to God as penance towards past sins - yours or others." I obviously do not know you at all, but this is such a sad statement (in the quote). NO amount of anyone's suffering can ever atone for past sins, not even for one, but there is really NO NEED to even attempt it. Jesus Christ's dying on the cross paid all that God's justice demanded as wages for sin. He cried 'It is finished!' God's wrath against sin crushed Him, that's why He was separated from God hanging there, and so God's anger against the sin of anyone that comes to Him in repentance and trust is all gone. That is why He is able to save to the uttermost anyone who comes to Him, because He made atonement for sin. Nothing ever can be added to that, nothing need be added to it.

I'm sorry if that was too long. Best wishes,
Brindusa

Follow up - I went to the oral surgeon at lunch today - two dry sockets! whoopee! So he takes these little strips of gauze and soaks them in some kind of liquid that tastes strongly of cloves (VERY strongly - some of the nastiest tasting stuff I've ever experienced) and pokes them down into the holes where my wisdom teeth used to be. Almost immediate relief! I have to go back in two days and get them taken out, and probably new ones put in, but it sure is nice to not be in agony.
