Beau Jackson

We rented Meet the Robinsons this week, and (as with all animated movies that enter my house) it has been watched many, many times in the last few days.  It’s a pretty good movie, even if you don’t have kids.  At the risk of posting a plot spoiler, there’s a scene with a bunch of frogs doing this jazzy/big band number called Where Is Your Heart At?

I’ve had this song stuck in my head for a couple of days now.  It’s not the kind of music I generally like, but I really like this song, so I thought I’d share.

We got to do a neat thing last night. We participated in a walk through nativity scene. This was not our church that put this on – but we got a call a couple of weeks ago from them because we have sheep. So we brought a couple of our sheep, and Allena dressed up as a shepherdess. Dominic ended up being drafted into being a wise man, since they had a last minute no-show.

There weren’t a lot of people that showed up (’cause hey, it was cold!) but it was neat all the same. probably 65-70 percent of the people that did show up were kids and they got a big kick out of the sheep. All in all a fun evening.

We’ve been enjoying the ice storm for the past few days.  We haven’t had power since Sunday at around 2:00 in the afternoon.  Our phone was out yesterday too.  Having everyone sleep in the same room will keep the room warm enough to be comfortable, but when your one-year-old wakes up at 3:30am and decides it’s play time (he demonstrated this be jumping on his sleeping sisters), then sleeping is tough even if you are warm.  Maybe the power will be back on today.

I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of Allena. She wrote a FANTASTIC article on dyeing with food color that got published on knitty.com.

I’ve been reading in the news lately how Facebook had implemented a tracking program so that more targeted ads could be delivered to their users.  They suffered a huge user lashback on that and pulled the tracking program.  Gee…we didn’t know that tracking your moves and using them to target advertising would make you mad…riiiight.

Anyhow, I was looking at one of the blogs I read regularly and there was an Amazon.com ad over on the right hand side of the screen.  Guess what book it was advertising?  Go on…guess!  Give up?  It’s called “The Roman Ritual vol. 1 Sacraments and Processions”.  This book is a little pocket-sized book that has a bunch of prayers in Latin for priests to use for various things like baptisms and blessings and what not.  How do I know this?  I researched how much one of these little books would cost (on Amazon) two nights ago.  Out of curiosity, I refreshed the website, and the next Amazon ad was “The Roman Ritual in Latin And English with Rubrics” which is the same book, with vol.’s 2 and 3 all in one cover.  Another refresh produced “The Roman Ritual three volume set”.  Another refresh produced some cd/dvd called “Island Roots, vol. 1 by various artists” which might actually have something to do with a post on the site (there was something about Tahiti a couple of posts back).

Looks like Facebook ain’t the only place tracking your movements.
