Saddam Hussein was executed this morning. I’m not really sure how I feel about that. I don’t think the death sentence should be imposed on anyone. It’s too easy to keep a person incarcerated for life, and a prisoner is less likely to become a martyr than an executed person. There’s always the risk of escape I suppose, and in the case of Iraq, there’s the possibility of another political coup that would then release him from prison. Still, I pray that God has mercy on his soul.
Whenever somebody is executed, the news always publishes quotes from angry people along the lines of “good! he deserved to die!” and other stuff that is disrespectful to the dead. It always reminds me of a quote from The Green Mile: “He’s paid what he’s owed. He’s square with the house again, so keep your ******* hands off him.” The way I see it, he fulfilled his sentence, justice was done, and “he’s square with the house again.” Now it’s time for forgiveness and mercy and healing.

Back in September, I made this post about my site getting spammed: SPAM!
To avoid the spamming, I turned on the wordpress feature that requires me to approve the first post anyone makes. After they’ve got one approved, then they can post at will.
Today I got notification that somebody had posted a comment to the SPAM! post. Guess what it was? Hahahahahaha…

The other week, after all the snow, I managed to break one of my windshield wiper blades while chiseling ice off the windshield. I grumbled quite a bit about this. I grumbled more when I forked over fifteen bucks for a new set of wiper blades. This morning, it was raining on the way to work. When I turned the wipers on my first thought was…that sure is nice to have a clean swipe on the windshield without all the streaking and dirt smearing. It’s funny what can bring a smile to your face.
Here’s hoping some minor annoyance of yours will turn into a little joy for you instead.

Recently I changed the “personal message” for my IM account. I came across a humorous expression in Latin: “Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes”, that roughly translated means. “If you can read this you are over educated”.
A co-worker named Darren commented on it today. His personal message said: “186,000 Miles/Second(300,000 km/s for Roy): It’s Not Just A Good Idea, It’s The Law!”. For the curious, Roy is another co-worker that is from Holland. He was giving Darren a hard time about using British units of measure.
I suggested furlongs/fortnight instead. I did the math (’cause I’m a geek), and DANG! That’s a lotta furlongs!
